The village is a mile and a half away and has a welcoming pub. Further afield, the Eden centre is about 35 minutes' drive. The Bodmin and Wenford steam railway is five miles away. The sea is easily reached - whether you want the whitewashed Cornish villages on the south coast or the glorious Atlantic surf to the north. It is great walking country and the many stunning gardens for which Cornwall is justly famous are easy to get to.
